Waiting for an iPhone Developer Cert…
by john on Sep.07, 2009, under Uncategorized
I’m to the point in my game development where it would be really useful to be able to put the game on hardware rather than simply testing in the simulator. I signed up for the developer program two weeks ago and my status on Apple’s site has been:
Contacting your legal representative.
Conducting company identity verification
For over a week now. As far as I can tell they’ve made no effort to contact me. This is starting to get annoying. I’ve heard of people having 1 day turnarounds for getting developer certificates, so why on earth is it taking weeks for me?

The process took 4 weeks for me. Both my legal representative’s took successive vacations and Apple doesn’t like to leave messages. I eventually told them to call me and I’d track the owner’s down myself. Once that was done it took all of two hours to get the rest of the process done. Hang in there, its worth it to see your code working on the device!

Eightlines,
How long ago was that? It seems that a while back it took about a month, and that more recently people are reporting wait times measured in hours rather than weeks. It seems like this should be something that is rather simple to process.

As another point of information, I’ve found this blog entry which details a 3 week wait as of April 2009 and includes a phone number to call for help.

Calling 800-633-2152 works as advertised. After doing that the process was completed in minutes.
